Registration was slow, and the first room had serious cleanliness issues. it’s a letdown for those expecting a smooth experience.

Nice hotel with friendly staff
I had a pleasant stay with comfortable beds and a friendly, helpful staff. The hotel has a quaint Victorian appearance, although the decor can feel a bit cluttered. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere for a good night’s sleep, but I did notice some noise from the floors above me during my stay. Overall, it was a good experience for the price.

The Grand Hotel in Nanaimo offered some notable highlights. The location was perfect for accessing the nearby lake, which I loved exploring with my dog. The lobby impressed me with its cleanliness and attention to detail. My pet-friendly room felt spacious, allowing my Labrador to move around comfortably. The bed provided a restful sleep – super comfortable, just what I needed. On the downside, the room I had could use some updates. The carpet felt uneven, making it uncomfortable to walk on at times. A noticeable musty odor lingered in the air, especially near the shower curtains. The underground parking area felt a bit sketchy and dimly lit, leading to safety concerns. The lighting was inadequate, and it made me uneasy as I approached my car. While the restaurant had good food, it wasn't open for breakfast during my stay, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel has potential but would benefit from some renovations to modernize the experience.

While the room was spacious and provided a nice shower experience, the decor felt dated and there were some cleanliness issues. We appreciated the selection at the whiskey bar, although the heat was uncomfortable without AC. Overall, a decent place but not somewhere I'd rush back to.

good location but hard to find in the dark
The beds were comfortable with excellent support during the night. The parking was easy which made access hassle-free. I enjoyed the nearby shopping center, particularly the Longwood Brewpub, which had delicious food and lovely service. I also appreciated the city view from my room, adding to the overall experience.
The sign on the road was poorly lit, making it difficult to find the hotel.
